As an 8th grade trombone player that is having trouble learning the Jurassic Park theme for our spring conert, "holy sh**".
This sounds like a mash up of Asphalt Cocktail (also by Mackey) and Suite Dreams by Steven Bryant until like the last 4 minutes

we're playing this for our marching band show and it's entitled Stretch!
This piece was the source material for my current marching band season. Its amazing and its so fun to pick out the parts from the show. I compet in WSMA.

Solomon Al-Harbi The soloist is Joseph Alessi, one of the best trombonists in the world currently, and the only reason it sounds disorganized, although it doesn't quite to me, is because of frequent time signature changes. If you see the sheet music, there are time signature changes literally everywhere.
Thats why i am not big fan of 1870-2050 music 😄
Solomon Al-Harbi I mean this randomness is really Mackey's style, and there's plenty of music (marches for example) that are nothing like this
Ive tried listening to modern music but man, i can not understand them like Classic and early Romantic eras
